East Rand Youth Orchestra to create musical delights at Springs

17.05.2017 by Marketing Concepts

Springs Mall will add a dash of musical magic to the centre on Saturday, 13 May as it plays host to the talents of the East Rand Youth Orchestra, just in time to spoil mom’s and their families ahead of Mother’s Day.

The gifted 40 piece orchestra conducted by Pienaar Fourie will perform a range of light classical and contemporary pieces in the Food Court area from 11h00 to 13h00. Established in 1978, the East Rand Youth Orchestra is in demand at numerous special events which included the official opening of the domestic terminal at O.R. Tambo International Airport, and have toured extensively both within South Africa and in nearby Madagascar, Mozambique and Namibia.

In addition to a wide musical reptoire spanning from Bach to the Beatles, traditional African songs to gospel and movie favourites, the East Rand Youth Orchestra runs an educational programme through which youngsters from previously disadvantaged backgrounds are provided with lessons, brought into the orchestra and are then trained to earn a living by teaching music.

This acclaimed orchestra will accompanied by tenor soloist Nicky Giuricich, who in addition to being a passionate music fan was the site director for the Springs Mall construction and is a director of Giuricich Bros Contruction, co-owners of Springs Mall.

Like many of the skilled artists in the East Rand Youth Orchestra Giuricich’s love of music began at a young age through singing in choirs and progressed to taking to the stage in numerous concerts  with leading South African orchestras such as the Johannesburg Symphony Orchestra, Randburg Symphony Orchestra and The Wits Orchestra among others. Giuricich has also performed as far afield as Trieste, Italy and is a member of the Coro Giuseppe Verdi which was founded by his late father and oldest brother Robert. “I still love to perform when time permits and still have a singing teacher who I go to when I have time, she is the famous South African soprano Emma Renzi who sang on the leading stages of the world during her career,” says Giuricich.

The East Rand Youth Orchestra performance is sure to delight and the community is invited to enjoy this incredible entertainment on 13 May in celebration of great music together with all the wonderful Springs moms in celebration of Mother’s Day.
